Founded in 2017, GPLS is a family-owned, full-service land surveying company based in Lincoln county, North Carolina. While the company began as a one-man operation, GPLS has grown into a trusted team of professionals committed to delivering accurate, efficient, and reliable surveying services across the Carolinas and beyond.

Our roots go back to 1998, when company founder Tim began his surveying career in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Trident Technical College, he spent years working with major engineering and surveying firms along the East Coast, gaining experience in a wide variety of environments—eventually completing surveys in 10 of the original 13 colonial states. Since relocating to Charlotte in 2011, Tim has continued to be an active contributor to the surveying profession, including serving on the board of directors of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors additionally serving his term as President of the Society in 2024. 

At GPLS, we specialize in boundary retracement, land development surveys, historical land research, and the integration of modern technology with time-tested methods. We bring a unique respect for history into our craft, offering a depth of understanding that goes beyond the typical survey. Our team regularly contributes to the professional community through seminars and presentations on topics such as colonial surveying methods, the Gunter's Chain, and Compass & Chain techniques.
